At CAL_arch we have expertise designing and delivering projects within the Living Sector which includes residential, co-living, BTR, affordable housing and hotels. We also undertake work in the commercial and educational sectors all detailed with precision and subtlety.
Marcus Claridge’s experience spans more than 30 years across multiple sectors and includes in-depth knowledge of planning policies and an understanding of complex sites, enabling him to lead and deliver numerous UK and international projects.
Marcus is involved in every project from early concept design, coupling traditional architectural tools of sketching and model making with new technologies to guide the team through each phase to completion.
Marcus is passionate about close collaboration with clients to better understand their objectives and vision and to establish a comprehensive brief. He has been a member of the RIBA Small Practice Committee, Wandsworth Design Review Panel, Richmond Design Review Panel, sat on the RIBA Awards judging committee in 2009 and acted as an external assessor at Cardiff University.
CAL Arch's underlying philosophy is about designing buildings and spaces that fit the different sites with different uses and to bring them altogether in a modern aesthetic, we are a design led studio but with an eye always on the commercial and buildable side of architecture.
The practice has been recognised with a number of awards including The Sunday Times British Homes Awards, 2017; three Wandsworth Design Award wins between 2009 and 2013 including awards for Parkgate House, SW11, and Thomas’s School in 2011. We have also won the Best City Spa award for BLOWW and has been RIBA and AJ shortlisted for AJ Masterplan of the Year in 2018 and the RIBA School London Award for Thomas’s Reception Block in 2009, London. The practice was longlisted for the Young Architect of the Year Award three times from 2008 to 2010.
